Frisco, Texas, Oct 12, 2020 – The Cottages community continues to offer the highest quality of care for loved ones living with dementia, Alzheimer’s or other memory loss conditions. With communities located throughout Texas, the organization ensures its residents receive innovative care that is in line with current research on memory loss and dementia.

Each location of The Cottages provide residents the option for of live in smaller “townhomes” or the spacious main building featuring large bedrooms with communal living and family rooms. Residences are color-coded and organized according to the latest research from the Mayo Clinic to best support independent navigation by residents. The organization knows the value of outdoor enjoyment for those living with memory loss, and each community has gardens and outdoor dining available.

The Cottages’ primary focus for memory loss care is to offer a safe and comfortable lifestyle tailored to individual residents. Outdoor spaces are designed for ease of navigation and are secure to prevent wandering. Each community offers a variety of activities with both internal staff and external experts to meet the interests of each resident. Care plans are developed in close communication with family members so that each resident’s current and anticipated future needs can be met.

Indoor spaces are designed to feel as homelike as possible with plenty of natural light and multiple living options. In addition to specific layout and program design, the Cottages have 24-hour staffing, full housekeeping and personal hygiene services and medication management. The Cottages staff are explicitly trained in best practices for working with those living with memory loss. Staffing expertise includes registered dieticians, onsite gourmet chef, pharmacy consulting, certified activity directors who are specially trained in Alzheimer’s and dementia and regular staff training in accordance with the latest memory loss research.

The Cottages organization wants its residents to feel as comfortable as possible in their new homes and encourage open visitation for friends and family. Friends and family are welcome to share a meal, go for a walk or join an activity with their loved one. The organization knows that residents do well when they remain connected to their communities. In-house religious services are available each week to meet residents’ spiritual needs.
